Dennis J. Varian has been involved in multifamily residential real estate for more than forty years. He is the Chairman of The Associated Management Company. Mr. Varian was Executive Director of Michigan Housing Associates, a nonprofit development corporation supported by business, labor, religious, and cooperative organizations. He was President of the Michigan Association of Housing Cooperatives and was a member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Housing Cooperatives. He was also a member of the Advisory Council of the Apartment Association of Michigan. He is the past Chairperson and President, and is a member of the Board of Directors, of the Michigan Housing Council.
Mr. Varian is active in the Midwest Affordable Housing Management Association and has been designated a National Assisted Housing Professional Executive by the National Assisted Housing Association. In 2001, Mr. Varian was recognized as an “Affordable Housing Warrior” by the Michigan Housing Trust Fund. He received the For-Profit Developer of the Year (the Peterson Award) from the Great Lakes Capital Fund in 2003.
Mr. Varian studied economics at Detroit Institute of Technology and is an alumnus of the University of Detroit, where he majored in electrical engineering and was President of the Student Association.
